The Eighth Annual CeaseFire Awards Breakfast was held Jan. 29 on the UIC campus with Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago, as host. Charles Thomas, of ABC-7 News was the Master of Ceremonies. Among those presenting awards were B. Joseph White, president of the University of Illinois at Chicago, the Rev. Dr. Calvin Morris, chairman of the Chicago Project for Violence Prevention Board of Directors, and Gary Slutkin, M.D., executive director of the Chicago Project.

Awards were given in the following categories: UIC Stewardship, Media Activism, Faith-Based Leaders, Community Activism and Achievement, Resource Activism, Law Enforcement, and CeaseFire Outreach Staff and Violence Interrupters.
