Ameena Matthews, Violence Interrupter, gives a fantastic interview in advance of the February 14th premiere of The Interrupters on Frontline. She discusses community violence, credible messengers, and what makes her so effective at conflict mediation. CeaseFire’s public health model relies on individuals, like Ameena, who used to run the streets and still have influence (to learn more read the Atlantic article ”Fighting Crime with Former Criminals”).
